Race days are always a mixture of excitement and adrenaline (mixed with a bit of anxiety that for some reason I might be the one runner not to make it to the finish line). Races are a great motivator to workout on a daily basis and I particularly like this one because the training spans from September - November. The fall weather is absolutely perfect for running.
Another workout motivator for me is clothes. Sometimes I have moments where I think "there's no way in hell I'm getting off this couch and running for an hour" or "I'm too busy to run" or "I'm too tired to run" or "I just ate too much to run" or "I didn't eat enough to run" or "there's a 0.01% chance of rain I better not run"... you get the picture. A trip to Nike (or to Lululemon if I'm feeling realllly lazy) always does the trick. I get so excited to wear my new purchases that it's guaranteed to result in a great run.
