Anyone with a Pinterest account knows that chalk board paint is IN. Basically the trend is "chalk board paint any surface you possibly can and then write on it." On a completely separate note, I had been saving the corks of my wine bottles for some time now, with the hopes to eventually turn them into a cork board. After taking into consideration all of the above, I decided that matching chalk and cork boards would be the perfect addition to our kitchen. This was such an easy (and cheap) DIY, and I think the finished products look pretty great.
CORK.
Purchase two identical frames with some depth to them.
I went with two black 11 x 14 frames that are about 1 inch
deep. You will use one for your chalk board and one for
your cork board.
step two:
You'll need about 100 corks (depending on the size of your
frame) and some glue. If you haven't been saving up, you
can easily purchase corks online! Glue each cork down
with a thin strip of glue.
step three:
Continue glueing down corks, one line at a time.
Keep on glueing. You might need to cut some corks down
at the end to fit evenly (unfortunately all my corks were not
the same size)
step five:
Step back and admire your work. The glue needs about
three hours to dry completely.

CHALK.
step one:
You'll use the second of your two frames for this.
step two:
You'll need a small container of chalk board paint and a
brush. The surface you'll paint on is the backing of the
frame.
step three:
Paint on the chalk board paint, keeping the brush strokes
in the same direction (either all horizontal or all vertical)
step four:
Keep on painting. I did three coats total to make sure it
was nice and thick.
step five:
Allow to dry for three hours before returning chalk
board backing to frame.

What have you been chalk board painting?
If it was up to me, I would have done the whole wall. yt does NOT get the fascination.
