Info Post

It's no secret I'm a little lot pizza obsessed. It's my go to dinner... My most usual craving... And the reason that some days I have to eat veggies (you know, to counter all of the pizza eating...). I make homemade pizza a ton.. and here are my tips on how to get it right.

1. BUY A PIZZA STONE
Pizza stones are the secret to a crispy crust. They maintain heat and keep moisture away from your crust. No soggy pizza! They are also non stick which makes cutting and serving your pizza easy as pie. No pun intended.

2. GET SOME GOOD DOUGH - OR MAKE IT! THEN PRE-BAKE IT.
I'm currently obsessed with Trader Joe's pizza dough. Its the perfect size and it bakes up perfectly. It also comes in whole wheat, plain and herbed - so it's fun to switch it up. Before topping any pizza dough, I recommend drizzling a bit of olive oil on your crust and baking it in a 450 degree oven for 8-10 minutes (until you see a bit of bubbling). This gives your toppings a nice solid base - again, avoiding soggy pizza!

3. DON'T OD ON THE TOPPINGS
There's such thing as too much sauce, too much cheese, and too many toppings when it comes to pizza. You don't want to weigh your dough down and make it impossible to hold your slice of pizza without the toppings tumbling off.... 1/4-1/2 cup of sauce is plenty! For cheese, no more than 1 - 1/2 cups does the trick! One or two other toppings is fine, but keep your pizza to one nice layer of toppings.
